Evolution Surrenders!

This year has been spent fighting with my ex-wife on child custody. I have had my sons for the last seven years. My oldest is going to go live with his mother starting July 4th. This is happening becuase I asked the kids what they wanted to do. My oldest wants to try living with his mother in California, my younger son wants to stay with me here in Texas. So I am letting my oldest go ahead and go.

I don't think it's the best decision for him. I've had custody of my sons all these years, becuase she had a bad problem with methamphetamines. She ended up doing time for dealing 2 years ago, but says she has been clean now for 2 years, and wants another chance. It isn't the first time she's supposedly quit that crap.

She has been putting the kids on guilt trips since December, that they should go live with her. My oldest has fallen for it, my youngest has resented her more because of it.

I think I'm letting him go though, becuase I promised him that I would respect his decision on what he wanted to do, and would love him no matter what. He also knows if he changes his mind he is always welcome to come back. He is also 16 and a half years old, and is almost at adulthood anyways.

Still, this has been depressing as hell. I'm taking him to the airport on July 4th morning, and it is a bitter horse pill to swallow seeing your child leave the roost, so to speak.

I just want to thank you Half an Db for always being there this past year whenever I needed a little cheering up. I think things will be back to normal once summer has past.

The mrr blog recently had a get together in Seattle. Some of my libbie buddies are pictured. I wish I could also get some pics from the get togethers at Rantburg. I think Emily's pic is floating around. Of course, good ole db can always be found at me other blog. I want to try to make a gallery of friends. True Americans can learn to respect others opinions, while totally disrespecting the person behind so said "opinion". It ain't get more American than that.
