DALLAS -- Dallas police said a woman trying to break up a fight between her sister and another woman ended up running over both of them with a car. The driver is in jail, and one of the victims, Ashley Jones, 20, has been through surgery and remains hospitalized at Baylor Medical Center. It is not known whether doctors were able to save her severed leg. Police said Jones was fighting the suspect's sister, Christal Farr, of Houston, over her boyfriend.
"Very crazy. Kids were around, they needed to be in the house, because that wasn't something that nobody wanted to see," witness Noel King said.
"He's been trying to court me but I would never get with him," Farr said.
Farr said that while visiting family in Highland Village, Jones charged her.
"When I started fighting her, two guys came from behind and they started hitting me," Farr said.
Farr showed NBC 5 her bruises and said her sister, Angie Farr, tried to help her.
"One of her teeth got knocked out and then her head she got big lumps all over her head," Christal Farr said.
And that was before anyone ever threw a punch.
Christal Farr said her sister -- hurt, frightened and surrounded -- climbed into Jones' car and took off.
"It was self-defense because there was so many guys around us, that was not the intention she had because she hit me," Christal Farr said.
Christal Farr's
"The whole point of it was is we was from Houston and we was outsiders," Christal Farr said.
Angie Farr was taken to the hospital and then to jail Tuesday night. Her family said she was badly beaten up but right now she is the only person charged in the case.
